5 Health Tips Every Bearded Man Should Consider

peter-3

There’s nothing that looks more awesome on a man than a well-groomed beard. However, appearance is not everything. Health should always be your primary concern, regardless if it is the health of your hair, skin, teeth or the overall health we’re talking about. Well-groomed usually means healthy, but grooming is not the only thing you can improve. It is your duty to always consider the long run and these five health tips may just help you with that.

1.      Avoid Beard Baldness

Even though losing hair is a fear of almost every man, few people know that your beard can grow bald as well. We are not talking about all of your beard falling off, but either it becoming thin or developing bald patches on your chin and cheeks. Some people might even prefer losing their beard to what actually happens. The causes for this are numerous; in some cases, we are talking about illnesses or chemotherapy – not much can be done about those. Most commonly, however, this issue will emerge as a result of damaged hair or skin, which can be prevented with proper grooming.

2.      Smile Matters

peter-2

Most women agree that two things that attract them the most in men are their eyes and their smile. When it comes to the latter, although beard definitely contributes to the image, teeth are still more important. Having a crooked smile can’t be fixed even by the most epic beard there is, which is why you need to do something about it. You should start wearing braces right away or if you are too worried they won’t go well with your beard, you could consider a subtler option. There is already a great increase in popularity of invisalign in Sydney, and there’s indication this trend is quickly taking off worldwide.

3.      Apply Oil

Everyone’s skin is different, so it requires a different treatment. Beneath every single hair is a sebaceous gland, tiny structure responsible for oiling your skin. As your beard grows, you will need more and more oil to moisten and thus protect it, but not everyone’s skin is up to the task. Luckily, this is something you can do on your own with some beard oil. Naturally, it is in your best interest to look for organic products rather than make things worse with harmful chemicals.

4.      Winter Protection

peter-1

Even though your skin and hair will need protection all year round, it’s much more important to pay attention to this during cold winter months. When possible, try to cover your beard with a scarf. Sure, frozen beard may look epic, but it is a disaster just waiting to happen. As for the skincare, in the 21st century, even the bearded alpha males think it’s absurd to claim that this is something reserved for women. A real man takes care of his body.

5.      Find a Way to Relax

Finally, one of the greatest problems people face is worrying too much about insignificant things. The stress alone can cause a whole array of health-related problems, symptoms of which can even be shown on your beard. In order to deal with this adequately, you will need to find your own stress relief. What you need is a hobby. Start reading something immersive, exercise or find something you’d enjoy collecting. The world is your oyster!

Conclusion

The above mentioned five tips don’t deal with your usual health issues. On contrary, they primarily concern the topics that often get pushed aside by the mainstream media. Still, seeing how most (if not all) of these problems are preventable, it’s more than vital for you to learn a thing or two about them in time.

Audacious and magnificent beard competition news

beard-golden_fotorIt’s time to announce the winner of our Audacious and magnificent beard competition. Choosing the winner was no easy task with every entry being a fine example of Bearded Audacity but after much deliberation the winner of an Audacious Beard oils and balm gift set is Brendan King:

‘The beard in my life is audacious for many reasons. It affords me a certain gravitas, like all if life’s great thinkers: Darwin, Freud, Lincoln, Gandalf and Pai Mei. It affords me a stroking device for mid-conversation so it appears I am being attentive and contemplative, when in fact I am just staring off into the distance. It gives me son somewhere to hide his Lego, as well of something to stroke absentmindedly whilst he is falling asleep. It allows small woodland creatures shelter from the rain. It protects my chin from the elements. It catches the sun and dances like fire. It is not so much a part of me as the sum of my parts. I am my beard. My beard is me.’ (Brendan King)

Wearing a beard is one of life’s great pleasures …

woodsman‘Wearing a beard is one of life’s great pleasures. It’s a look that says, “Yes, I’m a man. I’ll chop down a tree and wrestle a bear for you – and then I’ll wrap you up in my arms and rock you to sleep. And I’m probably quite good at IT and pouring artisan coffee too.”

As a member of the bald-but-bearded community, I afford young swells the opportunity to address me as “Mr Upside-Down Head”. Others among them like to call me “Badger Beard” on account of the distinguished white that is an increasingly prominent feature of my face.

We all chuckle and then we make friends.

Yet ecstasy turned to agony when I contemplated the state of my skin under The Magnificence. It would itch and it would flake. It seemed like a price worth paying in order to look so dang handsome, but it was very irritating (quite literally).

Then along came The Audacious Beard Co. A few dabs of The Woodsman beard oil and I smelt divine, my beard felt heavenly … and the flaky skin was gone.

One day I shall look down from the mountaintop, king of all I survey, and say to myself, “The day that I started to treat my beard as lovingly as others treat it is the day that everything started to come good.”
